Help Elizabeth get the treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

Elizabeth Katate is 26 years old. For almost two years, she was treated for the wrong illness. In September 2024, doctors diagnosed her with severe aplastic anaemia. But despite treatment, she did not improve. Since then, she has depended on frequent blood transfusions, often five units every month,to stay alive. She has spent nearly two years in and out of hospitals in Mbarara and Kampala, suffering from daily fevers, a severely enlarged spleen, and dangerously low platelet levels. In July 2026, further tests finally revealed the truth: Elizabeth has acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a cancer of the blood. The encouraging news is that her condition is treatable, and the care she needs is available at the Uganda Cancer Institute in Kampala. However, treatment must begin urgently. Elizabeth is currently in hospital fighting a serious infection. We are raising funds to help her start treatment. Treatment for leukaemia runs for two to three years: an intensive first phase in hospital, followed by a long maintenance phase. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help Elizabeth access treatment and give her a real chance of recovery.
